The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Delhi Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) posted at Jyoti Nagar Police Station for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹2.4 lakh from a complainant.

According to a statement issued by the agency on Monday (November 10th, 2025), the CBI had registered a case on November 9 after receiving a complaint that the ASI had demanded a total bribe of ₹15 lakh in exchange for submitting a favourable verification report concerning a property dispute pending before the Karkardooma Court. The property in question is located in the Meet Nagar area of Delhi.

The accused allegedly threatened the complainant with an adverse report if the money was not paid. Acting on the complaint, a CBI team laid a trap and caught the ASI red-handed while accepting ₹2.4 lakh as part of the demanded amount.

The officer was immediately taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to determine if others were involved in the bribery demand.

The CBI has reiterated its commitment to act firmly against corruption and has urged citizens to report any such instances. People can contact the CBI’s Anti-Corruption Branch at its Lodhi Road office in New Delhi or through the helpline numbers provided on its official website.
