The Municipal Corporation of Ludhiana launched a massive enforcement drive on Monday, demolishing seven illegal under-construction buildings and a school while sealing 14 other commercial properties across the city. Acting under the direct orders of MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, teams from the building branch targeted 22 violators in Zones C and D to curb unauthorized urban expansion and enforce building bylaws.

Assistant Town Planner (Zone D) Harvinder Singh led the operations in his jurisdiction, where crews demolished three illegal structures in Himmat Singh Nagar and Preet Nagar. The enforcement team further moved to seal 14 shops and buildings, including five units in the Dugri area opposite Chamkila Samaadh, three on Cemetery Road, and six on Jawaddi Road.

Simultaneously, the Zone C team concentrated its efforts on the Giaspura area, where they razed four under-construction industrial buildings found to be in violation of city regulations. In a separate move within the same zone, officials demolished an under-construction school building in the Lohara area.

Civic officials confirmed that the targeted owners had either failed to obtain approved building plans or were carrying out construction in direct defiance of established bylaws. The building branch maintains that this crackdown will intensify in the coming days to ensure systematic urban development.

Municipal authorities have issued a public appeal urging residents to secure all necessary permits and approvals from the civic body before commencing any construction work to avoid similar punitive action.
