In a bid to strengthen revenue recovery and curb unauthorised construction, Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal has directed building branch officials to submit certificates along with a detailed list of buildings currently under construction in their respective areas.

The Commissioner issued the instructions during a review meeting held at the MC Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar on Friday. He said the exercise would help ensure that no construction activity is being carried out in the city without an approved building plan or payment of the mandatory challan.

Dachalwal also ordered officials to expedite the recovery of challans assessed in the past, stressing that timely collection of dues is essential for the smooth functioning of civic services. Assistant Town Planners (ATPs) and building inspectors were asked to strictly adhere to their weekly recovery targets.

The submitted lists of under-construction buildings will be verified by the civic body to check for violations and identify structures being raised without sanctioned plans. Officials found negligent in monitoring illegal construction may face action.

MC Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, Joint Commissioners Vineet Kumar and Abhishek Sharma, Municipal Town Planner (MTP), ATPs and building inspectors attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner appealed to residents to begin construction work only after getting their building plans sanctioned by the Municipal Corporation, warning that strict action would be taken against illegal constructions.
