Ludhiana Commissionerate Police achieved a major breakthrough on November 13 by busting a Pak-based ISI-backed grenade attack module, arresting ten key operatives who were allegedly planning an attack in a populated area of Punjab. Police recovered an 86P Chinese Hand Grenade, a black kit, and gloves from the accused. This successful operation is part of the ongoing drive to ensure Punjab remains a safe and secure state, as directed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed that the accused were coordinating with Pak-based handlers via three Malaysia-based operatives—identified as Ajay alias Ajay Malaysia, Jass Behbal, and Pawandeep—to manage the pickup and delivery of the weapon. Preliminary investigation revealed that the handlers had assigned the module to carry out a grenade attack to create unrest in the state, according to CP Swapan Sharma.

The key arrested operatives are Kuldeep Singh, Shekhar Singh, and Ajay Singh alias Ajay, all residents of Sri Muktsar Sahib. Seven others—Amrik Singh, Parminder alias Chiri, Vijay, Sukhjit Singh alias Sukh Brar, Sukhwinder Singh, Karanveer Singh alias Vicky, and Sajan Kumar alias Sanju—were brought on production warrant for their roles as couriers and facilitators. Vijay, the brother of Ajay (Malaysia), was arrested from Ganganagar Jail where he was lodged in an NDPS Act case. The probe showed local facilitators like Amrik Singh and Parminder alias Chiri had previously been involved in drug smuggling for the foreign-based masterminds.

Acting on credible intelligence inputs, police registered a case (FIR No. 150 dated 27.10.2025) under sections of the Explosives Act and Section 113 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Jodhewal. Given the seriousness of the matter, special teams swiftly arrested the suspects. The police have invoked the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against the accused, and Red Corner Notices (RCNs) have been issued against the foreign-based masterminds. CP Sharma expects more arrests and recoveries as investigations into forward and backward linkages continue.
