The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has uncovered what it describes as a “criminal network” operating within the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), Jaipur, leading to the arrest of an Advocate, a Judicial Member, an Assistant Registrar and several others allegedly involved in settling appeals in exchange for bribes. According to an official statement issued by the CBI, the operation was initiated based on source information indicating corrupt practices inside the ITAT Jaipur bench. The agency stated that the network consisted of an Advocate, one Judicial Member, an Assistant Registrar and other unknown public servants and private individuals who were allegedly facilitating favourable decisions for appellants in return for illegal payments.

The CBI said it registered the case on 25 November 2025, naming the Advocate and other ITAT officials as accused. In its statement, the agency confirmed that the Advocate associated with ITAT Jaipur was arrested on 25 November 2025 after he was allegedly caught with a bribe amount of ₹5.5 lakh, which investigators say was paid by an appellant through a hawala network. A day later, on 26 November 2025, the Judicial Member of ITAT Jaipur was arrested, along with the recovery of ₹30 lakh from her official car. The appellant involved in the alleged bribery was also arrested on the same day.

The CBI further stated that multiple teams carried out raids across Jaipur, Kota and other locations, resulting in the seizure of cash amounting to more than ₹1 crore, transaction details, property documents and other incriminating material, which the agency says point toward an organized syndicate. According to the CBI, the search operation and follow-up action are still underway as investigators continue to trace the full scale of the alleged network.
