The CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) Court in Visakhapatnam has sentenced former Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) official Ragam Kishore to three years’ imprisonment along with a fine of ₹1 lakh in a disproportionate assets case. The sentencing was delivered on 2 December 2025, according to a statement issued by the CBI.

The agency stated that the case was originally registered by the CBI on 17 July 2001. As per the CBI’s investigation, Kishore—who had served as Regional Manager, Branch Transport & Shipping at SAIL Visakhapatnam and later retired as Assistant General Manager from SAIL Kolkata—was found to be in possession of assets that were disproportionate to his known sources of income.

According to CBI, the period under scrutiny was 1 January 1988 to 19 April 2000. During this time, the CBI alleged that Kishore held movable and immovable properties, both in his name and in the names of his family members, valued at ₹60,25,825.65, which the agency stated he could not satisfactorily explain.

The CBI confirmed that a chargesheet was filed on 5 August 2003 after completion of the investigation.

Following the trial, the court convicted Kishore and imposed the sentence based on the findings presented by the agency.
