The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Senior Passport Superintendent, formerly posted at the Regional Passport Office in Ghaziabad and currently serving in Mumbai, after investigators found he was attempting to influence witnesses and mislead the inquiry. The arrest was made late on 8 December 2025.

The CBI had registered a disproportionate assets case against the official on 24 March 2025. According to the agency, the public servant had allegedly amassed assets worth ₹85,06,900 — about 146 percent more than his known sources of income — during the check period from 30 July 2018 to 30 September 2024.

During the investigation, a search of the accused’s residence reportedly led to the recovery of unaccounted cash amounting to nearly ₹60 lakh. Officials also seized documents related to investments in immovable properties and records indicating several high-value expenditures.

Acting on a CBI application, the Special Judge at the Anti-Corruption Court, CBI Court Ghaziabad, had earlier issued an ad-interim attachment order on 17 September 2025, allowing the agency to attach the official’s assets, including a residential flat and a commercial shop.

Following his arrest on 8 December, the accused was produced before the CBI Court in Ghaziabad on 9 December 2025. The court granted CBI police custody of the official until 12 December 2025.

CBI's further investigation is underway.
