The Municipal Corporation (MC) of Ludhiana demolished six under-construction illegal buildings and an unauthorized colony on Wednesday as the civic body intensified its drive against unlawful construction across the city. Officials also cleared a significant road encroachment during the operation, reinforcing the Commissioner’s directive for strict enforcement of building laws.

The demolition drive, carried out in different parts of the city, targeted properties that lacked the necessary approvals from the civic body. The six illegal buildings were located across three areas: three in Sherpur, two on College Road, and one in Uttam Vihar (Bindraban road). MC teams sealed an additional illegal building on College Road.

The drive extended beyond individual structures to dismantle an under-construction illegal colony near Alpine wood school. Additionally, the team razed a substantial encroachment on a road portion in Manohar Nagar to clear the public thoroughfare.

The operation proceeded under the supervision of ATP (Zone D) Harvinder Singh, who confirmed that MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal had issued the directions to crack down on all unauthorized development.

Officials emphasize that these actions are essential to ensure orderly urban development and the safety of structures, as unauthorized construction violates city planning and building bylaws.

Following the extensive demolition, the civic body officials issued a strong appeal, urging residents to commence construction works only after securing approved building plans from the Municipal Corporation. They warned the public that the MC would continue to take strict action against any unapproved or illegal constructions found within its jurisdiction.
