Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner, Ludhiana IAS
Aaditya Dachalwal has directed the property tax wing and building branch to
expedite the recovery of dues from residents, warning that officials failing to
meet targets will face strict departmental action.
The directive came during a review meeting held on Thursday
at the MC Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar, attended by senior officials
including Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, Zonal Commissioners Neeraj
Jain, Gurpal Singh, Jasdev Sekhon, SE-cum-MTP Ranjit Singh, zonal
superintendents and Assistant Town Planners.
According to the civic body, the annual property tax
recovery target for 2025–26 is ₹180 crore, of which ₹131.49 crore has
already been collected across the four zones. Dachalwal instructed
officials to intensify efforts to recover the remaining dues and fixed weekly
recovery targets that will be monitored through weekly review meetings.
The Commissioner also ordered building branch officials to
take strict action against illegal constructions, emphasizing that
enforcement must continue alongside tax recovery efforts.
Dachalwal appealed to residents to pay their dues on time
to avoid penalties, stating that timely payments will support smoother civic
functioning and prevent unnecessary enforcement action.
