The Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) on Friday demolished four unauthorized colonies in Nandpur and Jandiali villages after the developers continued illegal construction despite repeated notices.

Acting on the directions of Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and GLADA Chief Administrator Sandeep Kumar, the Regulatory Wing dismantled roads and illegal structures in the colonies. A special team carried out the drive, which faced no resistance.

Officials said GLADA has recommended filing FIRs against the developers responsible for the unauthorized colonies across Ludhiana district.

A spokesperson said the authority has adopted a zero-tolerance approach toward unplanned and illegal development, adding that strict action is being taken against those misleading residents with offers of cheaper plots in colonies lacking statutory approvals.

Chief Administrator Sandeep Kumar urged people not to buy plots, buildings, or properties in unauthorized colonies, warning that GLADA will not provide essential services such as water supply, sewerage, or electricity to such areas. He advised buyers to verify the list of approved and regularized colonies available on the official GLADA website before making any purchase.
