The Municipal Corporation Ludhiana on Tuesday sealed six buildings across the city after their owners failed to submit dues and constructed structures without approval.
Officials said the action took place in different parts of Ludhiana, including Malhar Road, BRS Nagar, Ferozepur Road and Dugri Road. The sealed properties include one building on Malhar Road, two in BRS Nagar, two including a hotel on Ferozepur Road, and one on Dugri Road.
The Municipal Corporation acted on the directions of Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, who instructed the Building Branch of Zone D to take strict action against unauthorized constructions.
Assistant Town Planner Harvinder Singh said the owners did not pay charges such as CLU (Change of Land Use) fees and had raised illegal structures in the past. He said the MC sealed the buildings and directed the owners to clear their dues.
The Commissioner recently warned officials to expedite dues recovery and take firm action against illegal buildings, failing which departmental action would follow.
MC officials said the drive against illegal constructions will continue, and appealed to residents to begin construction only after getting building plans approved from the civic body.
