The Association of Trade & Industry (ATIU) on Saturday held a joint meeting with ACP Traffic Ludhiana, Jatin Bansal and his senior team to address escalating issues of illegal truck parking and encroachments across the Focal Point industrial area.
Presiding over the meeting, ATIU President Pankaj Sharma highlighted growing congestion at key junctions, including GT Road, Dhandari Flyover, Sherpur Chowk, and Jiwan Nagar Chowk. Following the discussions, officials from the Police Department and ATIU conducted a joint field visit to congestion-prone areas affecting daily commuters and industrial traffic.
Both sides agreed to coordinate efforts to streamline vehicle movement around the Dhandari Flyover by installing traffic signals and signage. It was noted that truck and trolley drivers often park their vehicles for several days, creating unsafe, lawless zones that also attract drug misuse.
ACP Bansal assured prompt removal of such vehicles and directed strict challan action against habitual offenders. He also committed to deploying additional personnel at critical points, particularly during peak office hours.
ATIU President Pankaj Sharma assured full cooperation and announced that the association would install security booths at key locations across the Focal Point to strengthen traffic regulation and on-ground security management.
The Focal Point area, one of Ludhiana’s largest industrial hubs, continues to face growing pressure from rising vehicular density, expanding logistics movement, and rapid industrial activity. With thousands of workers commuting daily and heavy commercial vehicles operating round the clock, stakeholders say coordinated efforts between industry bodies and law-enforcement agencies are essential to maintaining safe and efficient mobility.
