Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal has directed all zonal commissioners to initiate fortnightly meetings with the councillors under their respective jurisdictions. This critical move, mandated in orders issued on Tuesday, aims to dramatically expedite development works, ensure city-wide cleanliness, and promptly resolve public grievances.

The order specifies that the four zonal commissioners of the civic body must hold these regular meetings with the elected councillors. Proceedings of these consultations are required to be meticulously maintained and promptly submitted to the MC Commissioner’s office for continuous, regular monitoring.

Commissioner Dachalwal emphasized that a primary goal is to gather direct feedback from the councillors, who serve as the eyes and ears of the civic body in their wards. This feedback mechanism is designed to identify bottlenecks in ongoing development projects and ensure necessary steps are taken swiftly to address any reported public grievances.

Dachalwal affirmed his personal commitment to the initiative, stating that he has also been monitoring development works regularly. He issued a firm warning, stressing that no laxity would be tolerated from the concerned civic body staff regarding either the pace of development works or the standard of cleanliness across Ludhiana. The fortnightly review is a direct step toward ensuring accountability and enhancing the efficiency of the local administration.
