The Ministry of Railways has officially approved a new stoppage for the Ferozepur–Delhi Vande Bharat Express at Barnala railway station. This decision follows a formal request by Rajya Sabha Member Padma Shri Awardee Rajinder Gupta, who advocated for the halt during his first official meeting with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi.

The new stoppage applies to Train Nos. 26461 and 26462, providing a high-speed rail link between the Malwa region and the national capital. This move directly addresses a long-standing demand from local residents, traders, and regular commuters who previously lacked direct access to the premium service.

Rajinder Gupta, the Chairman Emeritus of Trident Group and a newly elected MP, emphasized Barnala’s growing status as an economic and social hub during the deliberations. He noted that the town's industrial significance necessitates better connectivity to bolster regional development and ease of travel.

Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu also played a key role in the development, having supported the proposal alongside other regional leaders. The Ministry acknowledged that the addition of this stop would significantly strengthen economic linkages for the districts of Barnala, Sangrur, and Bathinda.

Responding to the approval, Gupta expressed his gratitude to the Railway Minister for the prompt decision. He stated that the government’s move reaffirms its commitment to improving railway infrastructure and responsive governance in Punjab.

The introduction of the Vande Bharat halt is expected to reduce travel time for entrepreneurs and students in the region, offering a faster alternative to existing mail and express trains. Local trade bodies have welcomed the decision, citing it as a major boost for the area's textile and commercial sectors.
