Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Wednesday inaugurated a new computerized radiography (CR) machine worth ₹10 lakh at the Civil Hospital in Khanna, marking a significant upgrade in diagnostic facilities for patients.

The newly installed digital X-ray machine will enable doctors to obtain clearer images and detailed examination of injuries, particularly in accident cases involving bone fractures. Hospital authorities said the facility will help improve the accuracy of diagnosis and ensure faster and better treatment for patients.

Minister Sond said that the previous X-ray machine at the hospital was decades old and frequently developed technical faults, causing inconvenience to patients and doctors alike. With the installation of the modern CR machine, the hospital’s diagnostic capabilities have been significantly strengthened.

Highlighting the importance of public healthcare, Sond said the Civil Hospital Khanna handles a daily OPD of around 1,500 patients and the government is continuously upgrading infrastructure by introducing modern medical equipment. He credited Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for prioritizing health and education sectors across Punjab.

The minister reiterated that treatment at government hospitals and Mohalla Clinics in the state is completely free, including medicines, diagnostic tests, and doctor consultations. He also announced that the Punjab government will soon launch a health insurance scheme providing cashless treatment of up to ₹10 lakh in both government and private hospitals.

Sond said the state government remains committed to the welfare of every section of society and will continue working to strengthen healthcare services across Punjab. Senior Medical Officer Khanna Dr. Maninder Singh Bhasin and other health department officials were present during the inauguration ceremony.
