Sustained rejuvenation efforts by the Ludhiana district administration have begun showing visible results, with major progress reported in the clean-up and pollution control of Buddha Dariya. The drive is being carried out under the direct supervision of Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal.
Officials said the improvement has been achieved through close coordination among multiple departments, including the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana, Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Punjab Pollution Control Board, Drainage Department, and other concerned agencies. The joint effort focuses on regular cleaning, maintenance, and strict monitoring of the natural drain and its connected sewerage network.
As part of the ongoing action, teams are continuously inspecting drainage lines, sewer systems, Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs), Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs), and Intermediate Pumping Stations (IPS). Authorities have been addressing any leakages, blockages, or technical faults on priority to ensure smooth functioning and prevent untreated waste from entering Buddha Dariya.
Field inspections are being conducted frequently, with officials documenting progress through geo-tagged photographs to ensure transparency and on-ground compliance. Directions issued during review meetings chaired by the Deputy Commissioner are being implemented with strict follow-up, officials added.
The administration has also intensified work on the demarcation of Buddha Dariya, with the Deputy Commissioner’s office examining and expediting related reports for timely submission to the Municipal Corporation.
Senior officers, including Executive Engineer Balraj Singh from the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Executive Engineer Jaspal Singh of the Punjab Pollution Control Board, and Superintendent Engineer Ekjot Singh from the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana, are actively involved in the initiative. According to officials, daily reviews indicate that most major inflow points have been addressed and water quality parameters have shown noticeable improvement due to strict enforcement and scientific monitoring.
The administration reiterated its commitment to restoring the ecological health of Buddha Dariya through sustained and coordinated efforts.
