The Sakhi One-Stop Centre (OSC) at the Civil Hospital in Ludhiana is playing a key role in providing comprehensive support to women facing violence and distress, following an administrative upgrade carried out under the Centre’s Mission Shakti programme aimed at ensuring women’s safety, security, and empowerment.

The centre, which operates in coordination with the 181 Women Helpline, offers round-the-clock emergency assistance, immediate outreach, and access to integrated services for women in crisis situations across the district.

After a detailed assessment by the district administration, an upgrade initiative was undertaken under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain. Governance Cell member Tansheen Kaur coordinated the process, while the administration partnered with the Philanthropy Club NGO to quickly provide essential facilities, improving both the efficiency of operations and the overall environment for beneficiaries.

Official data shows that since its inception, the Sakhi One-Stop Centre in Ludhiana has registered 1,471 cases, of which 1,459 have been successfully resolved. The centre has facilitated police assistance in 525 cases to ensure protection and legal security, arranged temporary shelter for 49 women during emergencies, and provided medical support, including psychological care, to 279 women through coordination with health institutions.

In addition, the centre has extended legal aid and counselling services to 366 women, helping them recover emotionally and navigate legal procedures with confidence and support.

Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain said the Sakhi One-Stop Centre provides a wide range of services on a 24×7 basis, including emergency crisis intervention linked to the 181 helpline, temporary accommodation, police facilitation, medical care, legal guidance, counselling, court support, and coordination with concerned departments for rehabilitation and long-term reintegration.

He added that the district administration, in collaboration with the Philanthropy Club and other partners, remains committed to strengthening the centre further to ensure timely assistance, dignity, and justice for every woman in need.
