Acting against unauthorized constructions, the Municipal Corporation (MC) Ludhiana on Monday sealed five illegal shops in Model Town Extension and an illegally constructed building near Saggu Chowk, officials said.

The sealing drive was carried out on the directions of MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal as part of the civic body’s ongoing efforts to curb illegal construction across the city.

Assistant Town Planner (ATP), Zone-D, Harvinder Singh said the violations were detected during routine inspections conducted by MC officials. He added that the property owners continued construction work despite being issued prior warnings by the civic body.

Following non-compliance, MC teams sealed the illegal shops and the building to prevent further unauthorized construction.

Meanwhile, MC officials appealed to residents to undertake construction activities only after getting their building plans approved by the Municipal Corporation, warning that strict action would be taken against violators.
