The Municipal Corporation (MC) Ludhiana on Friday intensified its crackdown on illegal constructions, demolishing two unauthorized buildings and sealing five others in different parts of the city.

Acting on the directions of MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, the building branch of MC Zone D carried out the enforcement drive against seven structures found violating building norms.

Assistant Town Planner (ATP), Zone D, Harvinder Singh said the demolition action was taken against one illegal building on Kochar Market Road and another in Gurdev Nagar. He added that the civic body also sealed five other illegal buildings during the drive.

According to the MC, two unauthorized buildings each were sealed on BRS Nagar Road and Dugri–Jawaddi Road, while one illegal structure was sealed on Ghumar Mandi–College Road.

ATP Singh said the owners of these buildings had either failed to get their building plans approved from the Municipal Corporation or had carried out construction in violation of prescribed building bylaws.

He further stated that the drive against illegal constructions would continue in the coming days. Meanwhile, the civic body appealed to residents to obtain mandatory approval of building plans before starting construction work, warning that strict action would be taken against any violations.
